Developing Your Mindset
So now we understand the mindset it takes, let’s talk about how we can develop true mental toughness so we can overcome any challenge in our journey in this season of achieving wealth. There are several steps to achieving this and it is vital that you follow every single step in the process to avoid falling back into a poor mindset. With every step forward, there is the potential to fall ten steps back.
First, you need to really establish your relationship with the Lord and what he has planned for you. We will go into further detail later in this book why this journey is holy and biblically sound, but first, let’s just simply focus on what the Lord wants for us and how that usually equates to what we want for ourselves.
Daily motivations are absolutely vital to maintaining your Christian status, otherwise God will be pissed and push your success another day further ahead. Daily motivations include some quiet time with just you, the Lord and a public audience. He must be thanked for everything he has provided for you because of your faith and for what he will definitely provide you in the future. Don’t forget to let Him know how you plan to spend your money. He likes fancy things- just look at any cathedral. Super fancy.
Not only do daily motivations solidify you in your faith, they also require you to take some precious time out of your day when you could be working the grind. While a routine is important (which will be discussed later), spending half an hour a day with the Lord is a sacrifice from more important things. Committing to this sacred time thereby requires discipline and toughness because now you have less time to work on the grind, which now requires more effort. The more time you spend praising the Lord for your future rewards and riches, the more tough you will be for the rest of the day.
Not to mention, the stronger your faith, the tougher your shield is towards any negativity, doubt and reality regarding your goals. With the strength that your faith will provide you with earthly riches, you will have the strength to overcome any obstacle and power through with your goals and ambitions.
Other ways to optimise your success mindset include manifesting, which is like prayer but instead you are God who commands the universe to bend to your will. It’s not blasphemy if you just declare that it’s not manifesting. This is a neat loophole for devoted ambitious Christians.
You can manifest success by calling yourself a “future basketball pro” or “millionaire in the making” or simply “entrepreneur,” which implies success, but really means anything. You could even go one step further by stating that you already are a pro in his prime. If it’s going to be true eventually anyway, it might as well be true now, forever and for always. So go ahead and declare yourself a CEO of an international company, an Oscar winning actor or a gold medal winning olympic figure skater. Focus on how impressive that is to people, especially yourself. This is also an efficient way to assert your dominance and superiority over the 99.9% who don’t have a powerful success mindset like you do.
Manifesting can also be achieved through a vision board. This tends to be something women do, so I advise you to skip this activity if you can't feel the testosterone pumping. A vision board is two things: spiritually it is an idol to your dreams, ambitions and goals which is placed in a prominent home like an altar to be prayed to everyday. In practice, it is a colorful collage of big cars, houses and other luxuries that helps you to really visualise your goals.
As should be clear to you by now, a true success mindset is all about convincing yourself with absolute certainty that you will reach your goals. After all, as the kids’ stories always teach us- you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it. So many of us forget this when we become adults as we allow ourselves to stand in the way of our own dreams. By holding true to this single core belief- your dreams will come true, then you are half-way to achieving a true and pure success mindset. Once you have convinced yourself, it takes some practice to really strengthen and solidify your delusions.
As discussed, it is easy to blame life for getting in the way of success. The cold hard truth is that you’re simply submitting to the negativity and permitting life to get in the way. This is loser thinking. A tough mind knows how to prioritise everything that puts success first! Rearranging your lifestyle around success is one of the best ways to really optimise your mindset because your whole life now revolves around it.
Having a rigid disciplined routine will ensure that you reach your goals in no time. This will be discussed in a future chapter. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t discuss what should be prioritised now.
The only question you need to ask yourself is: “Does this serve me in achieving my goals?” If the answer is no, then it does not take priority, or is even abandoned altogether if necessary. An example might be your child’s second birthday party. Does it serve you? The answer is simply no. Your child won’t remember and they’ll have a birthday next year anyway. Those are precious hours you could be spending taking the grind to the next level and getting ahead of the competition. The grind never sleeps, never takes breaks. You’ve gotta show up every single day. You’ve always gotta keep running.
Perhaps something that’s a little more important might be ordering a shake at your local drive through. Usually such a thing is considered a treat, so is it really serving you? Of course it is! A shake is the perfect reward for absolutely crushing it all day! Plus it gives you that energy boost without ordering a sweet coffee like a woman. After all, the day is still young and you have some business to do!
